Because i said i would...

Do you remember when a bit back I told you about the new Homespun DK yarn from King Cole?
And in that post I told you I had made a “little neck kerchief” and that I would tell you when it’s ready.

Hey guess what… It’s ready!

Tibbs crochet kerchief just might be the project you’ve been looking for.
It’s fast. Using a dc mesh stitch for the body means this little wonder flies in your fingers.
It’s easy. If you’re a beginner, I encourage you to give this a go!
1 ball. Yep, thats it. This is a great project for using those single balls in your stash.
>>>So, what do all of those qualities add up to? Hint: the Holidays are coming.

Summon your inner Oprah and get ready for gift giving- You get a Tibbs! and you get a Tibbs!… A Tibbs for you! Tibbs for everyone!

joy

So so so excited to share this with ya’ll! Creating another crochet pattern for the new Revel Signature line is filling my soul.

I don’t even know the words to explain how much joy this brings me.

I truly hope with all my yarny heart that these patterns are doing the same for you. That you enjoy making from them and that gifting or wearing your creations makes you burst with happiness and glee and wonder at what you have put into the world with your own hands. Find me on social- tell me your stories! I would genuinely love to know.

About the yarn

Like I mentioned above, I wrote a yarn review about the Homespun DK by King Cole a couple of weeks ago.

I gave all the details about the weight of the yarn and technical things, but really the thing that needs to be appreciated the most in this yarn is… okay, there are 2 things.
1. It is SO much softer than you are probably thinking (especially for the price!). Fine merino and Alpaca… it is squishy and wonderful, easily next-to-skin soft 🥰
2. The flecks! Ya’ll. The flecks! I’m absolutely in love with them.

At the time of this posting, this yarn is still not available in the US, I will update when it is. In the meantime, WoolWarehouse has great shipping options and the entire color selection is available (tell ’em I sent ya!). It’s less than $4 a ball, ya’ll! – yes, really.

The skills you need

The kerchief is made with basic stitches, and work up super quick.

Brand new beginners- you might need to learn a new stitch (Stacked stitches) but here‘s a quick video and the written instructions are below, too.
Also, the construction on this is a bit unique and will add to your skills!

If you’ve never worked with an Adjustable Ring before, I created a video tutorial and photo tutorial. This is a great beginning stitch to know for bottom up shawls and any top-down hats in your future.

Getting started

Ya’ll know how I feel about making gauge swatches.
Make them.
However, this kerchief uses an entire ball of yarn, leaving no extra for a gauge swatch. So, I’ve built the gauge swatch into the pattern. Please pay attention to this. If you are using the same yarn (or yardage) as mine, it will be very important that your gauge is not larger than mine, otherwise you will run out of yarn.

But while you’re here, grab this helpful worksheet I created for you to use on your next project, when making a gauge swatch will be a big deal. Save this worksheet to your digital notebook or print a few of these off if you’re a paper planner person.
This will make the swatch process easier and more enjoyable. I created this FREE worksheet as an easy way to figure out gauge, it’s especially helpful if you’re new and still learning all the ways to be successful with your crochet. This worksheet organizes your stitching information and the fill-in-the-blanks makes the math stress free.

NOTES

GENERAL

  • Pattern is written in US terms with imperial and metric measurements.
  • Pattern is written for 1 size.
  • Yarn amount(s) given is for kerchief as shown│written. Yardage [m] will vary with any alterations of pattern.
  • Read through each line before beginning to avoid any confusion during stitching.
  • Refer to special stitches instruction, pictures and video(s) as needed.
  • Gauge information is given in various rows of pattern, verify that project measurements match given measurements.

CONSTRUCTION

  • Kerchief is worked seamlessly, from lower point to top│ties.

UNDERSTANDING THE PATTERN & SIZING

  • Kerchief is worked flat, turning after every row
  • Chains, other than turning chains, count as stitches. Unless otherwise directed, when working into a chain, work under both upper loops “V” of stitch, do not work around the chain or in the space it creates, but rather INTO the stitch.
  • Number after period (.) at the end of rows is the stitch count; 12 sts. This means the row just completed should have 12 stitches.
  • If no stitch count is given at the end of row, stitch total did not change from previous listing.
  • To alter the depth, instructions are written within the pattern.
