Nashe, a Tunisian crochet shawl pattern

all about

I’ve been at it again with Tunisian crochet! The last Tunisian shawl, Wyss (below), is a combination of a daisy stitch and simple stitch, which created a section in solid fabric & a smaller section in a lace fabric. This new one, the Nashe Tunisian crochet shawl, is an all-over lace. It uses one stitch throughout, so if you’re new to Tunisian crochet and the thought of learning all the new ways to put the hook here and pull through there is a bit daunting… this is the pattern for you! Its a great way to dip your toes into the waters of Tunisian lace.

the sizes available

Nashe Shawl’s written pattern is for just one size. Because of it’s construction, you can easily adjust it to be smaller│larger. I finished the sample shawl with 106 yds [97 m] remaining in my yarn ball. I could have made the shawl several inches longer, but I am pretty short (just almost 5′ 2″). Because I am so short, a shorter length would have worked well, simply stopping when ideal is reached. However, I’m also a bit on the bustier side, so I wanted my shawl to have some depth to the center point. I think the resulting shawl is a happy medium. 😃

This is the perfect time for me to ask something of you. If you create this shawl, I would love to feature your work on a gallery page and show others how amazing you are. This would also allow me to be able to showcase how this shawl looks in various yarns and on multiple people.  I, and your fellow stitchers would be so so grateful to have additional samples to view! If this is something you would like to help with, you can find me on all the social places (links are on the right column of this page). If you post pics on social and use #NasheShawl, I might reach out to you that way, too.

about the yarn

Lace weight yarn looks and sounds a little intimidating. But don’t be scared of it. It’s still just yarn, only skinny 😘

If you are wanting to give lace weight a try, I without any hesitation advise you to start with Anzula’s Breeze.

While it is a true size 0│Lace weight yarn, it is a bit on the heftier side of lace. The linen fiber gives the yarn a little bit of “tooth”, making it a bit easier to stitch with, which is great for the new lace user. The other fiber in this yarn is silk- I don’t have to tell you it’s amazing.
The combination in this yarn is downright luxurious.

Anzula is only available on their site or Local Yarn Stores (& their websites).

*Amount given is for shawl as shown│written. Yardage will vary with any alterations of pattern.

HOOK Tunisian J – [6.0 mm]; or size needed to obtain gauge
Shown Brittany Needles 14″ [35.5 cm] straight Tunisian hook

Hook note: shown below is the final row of the sample shawl with all stitches on hook.
It is recommended to use a Tunisian hook with cable if yarn larger than lace weight is being used. Here are a few sets from makers I trust (I own and LOVE the Ginger set by Knitter’s Pride. I also own a set from WeCrochet and the Dreamz set by Knitter’s Pride, which are also great, but I prefer the pointier head of the Ginger Set. I have designer friends that praise the Addi set, I do not own- but if you are also a knitter, the click cables from knitting sets fit the Tunisian hooks).
