never too many

This hat is kinda perfect. Super cute and trendy but also, oh-so-functional. Okaaayyyy, but how is a mesh fabric beanie going to keep you warm? Well, it’s not. Not really, and that’s a bit of the point. This beanie is for warmer, lazy, summer days and all that goes with them. Gotta keep the tresses tamed at the park or a walk on the (always windy!) beach? Izza. Still want to be your fashionista self in the open fields of the current musicfest? Izza. Gotta run to the mall for the shock drop of the latest kicks with no time to fix your hair? Izza. Yep, this Izza crochet hat pattern is the answer; a great little addition to your wardrobe. Also, this perfect for all occasions, summer, mesh hat uses only 1 ball of a bamboo blend that can be readily found at most big box stores.

A group effort

Are you on facebook? You are invited to join the Revel group ! It’s an easy way to quickly get answers to any questions you may have about a pattern. It’s also a place to share project pictures, get opinions on color options and whatnot, share your favorite yarn memes, and chit-chat with the rest of us.

izza crochet hat pattern

one size

The Izza crochet summer beanie pattern is written for just one size. Because of it’s construction, you can easily adjust it to be smaller│larger. I wanted the sample to have enough extra length to give it a slight slouch. This is written as a compromise between skull cap and a true slouchy beanie.

Can I ask a favor? If you make this hat, I would awesome if you’d allow me to feature your work on a gallery page and show others how amazing you are. This would also allow me to be able to showcase how this hat looks in various yarns and on multiple people and their styles.  I, and your fellow crochet lovers would be so so grateful to have additional samples to view! If this is something you would like to help with, you can find me on all the social places (links are on the right column of this page). If you post pics on social and use #IzzaBeanie, I might reach out to you that way, too. cr

Behind the izza hat

Join in the journey! I’ve decided to start a design diary. I’ll be chronicling the day to day. Telling of the happenings & mishaps 😆 along the way.

about the yarn

As this pile on my desk confirms, I love Coboo.

Coboo is a 50│50 cotton & bamboo blend. Which, is absolutely perfect for warm weather makes. Both fibers are cooling, but its the bamboo that brings the magic to this yarn.
The drape, ya’ll… it’s fantastic.

Coboo is a size 3│Light (DK) weight yarn. Again, ideal for hotter days & nights.

232 yd [212 m]│3.5 oz [200 g]
Friends, that’s enough to actually make something. Ahem- the Izza beanie only uses 154 yd [141 m].

Lets get into the real talk on this yarn- money. Each cake runs between $5-6.50 depending on where you purchase.
Yep. You read that right. Izza is a 6dollar hat! 😱

CONSTRUCTION

UNDERSTANDING THE PATTERN

  • Pattern is written for 1 size.
  • Number after period (.) at the end of rows is the stitch count; 8 sts. This means the row just completed should have 8 stitches.
  • If no stitch count is given at the end of row, stitch total did not change from previous listing.
  • Hat is worked in joined rounds, joining last st to first at the end of rounds.
  • Hat is worked with RS facing for every round, do not turn after rounds.
  • While gauge is not crucial for this project, any deviation from gauge given will vary the size of hat created and the amount(s) of yarn used.
  • Gauge information is given in Details {above} as well as within the pattern; verify that project measurements match given measurements.
  • Joining sl st does not count as stitch.
  • PM as instructed as a visual reminder of first st of Rnd│corners.
  • To alter the height│circumference, instructions are written within the pdf pattern.
  • Sample shown is exactly as written with no alterations to pattern. Model has head circumference of 21” [53 cm].
