Holdo

Holdo Tee worn by lady standing against wall

As RVdesigns continues to grow, I am introducing a new line of patterns that will be an expression of my style.

I have so much planned and am very anxious to begin sharing all that I have been dreaming of.

i know, i know...

ANOTHER Star Wars named pattern (Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo of the Resistance). But there is a solid reason… you see, my Amilyn top (Free pattern HERE) no longer fit. I’ve adjusted my eating habits to be more about my health and less about my love of chips and chocolate and with that, there’s been some weight loss. So, I’ve donated loads but a few of my handmades are still hanging around while I decide what to do…. alter? remake? donate?

So, the pondering began on my Amilyn. With the way the cowl-style neck was made and the motifs within the fabric on the front… Altering was just going to be a lot of work.
BUT, I really liked the back of the top. Decision made.

I took out the side seams, frogged the front and made and duplicate of the back, adjusted all the math for the new style│fit… Voila! New Summer tee.

About the yarn

Ya’ll already know I love CoBoo. It’s an affordable, #3 light weight- DK yarn that is silky smooth and cool to touch.

A mix of 50% cotton and 50% bamboo with amazing drape – perfect summer yarn. Especially for the summers we have in Houston. I’m not even lying, its a “feels like 108” as I’m typing.

And now we know it frogs well and re-crochets nicely, it did untwist a bit and get a little splitty (this yarn is an 8 ply) in a few places, but it wasn’t bad and easy to work around.

It’s truly one of my favorites
(Hint, I’m pretty sure you’ll be seeing it again very soon.)

The sizes available

As always, this top is size inclusive. Meaning, I have written this pattern for 10+ sizes.  Ranging from the standard XS – to 6X with an extra (+) for my 6X friends that would like to have more positive ease. See Finished Measurements below for the inches│centimeters of each size.

To determine which size you should make, first decide what kind of ease you’d like for the tee to have (how roomy or fitted you want the tee to be). For example, my Holdo (pictured) has 9″ [23 cm] positive ease (extra fabric). My chest is 49“ [124.5 cm] and the Holdo is 60″ [152 cm].

Then, follow the instructions for the size with the finished measurements you want.

Getting started

If you’re not new here, you know what’s coming.
Yep, again.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times and will do so a thousand more- Friends, ya need to swatch. I know, really, I know it is no fun. I know you want to get right to the project. I know it feels like a waste of yarn, and yarn ain’t cheap.
I know. Truly, I do.
But I also know, you want your tee to fit properly. This means you need to know how your stitching sizes up to my stitching.
We are all different.
Be fussy and grumpy about it (I always am), but do it

This stitch pattern + this coboo yarn make it especially important that you swatch. This fabric GROWS when wet.

To make the process easier and more enjoyable, I’ve created this helpful & FREE worksheet for you to use.
