Ya’ll, did you know there is this thing called “LYS”?
– Local Yarn Store – This is different than Michaels or Joann or Hobby Lobby. A LYS is a dedicated yarn store. All yarn and yarny goodness. It wasn’t until I started to stretch my skill and search the internet to learn new techniques that I learned of these magic places. Now, I make a point to find the LYS of any town we travel to. It has been a lot of fun seeing them and they often have an area for their local spinners/dyers, these are typically what I chose as my souvenirs.

They usually have a small seating area for shoppers to sit a stitch a bit and if you’re lucky, they hold classes. ••• Fun fact: I teach at my LYS.
This tree pattern is what we are using for the month of December to learn how to make an adjustable ring and how to crochet in the round.
If you are in or near Houston, give Park Avenue Yarns a call, and come on out!
[Their inventory is also available online.]

FINISHING
Weave in all ends.
Optional- Weighted pellet packet: Cut a 7” [18 cm] square of plastic cling wrap. Place approximately ¼ cup plastic weighting pellets in center of square. Fold each edge toward center to create a 3” [7.5 cm] square packet, press cling wrap closed, tape if desired.
Using stuffing of choice (sample shown uses Poly-fil Ultra Plush Polyester Fiber Fill), push fibers into the tip of tree. Being careful not to over-stuff, fill tree with fibers.
If using weighted pellets, fill tree with stuffing, leaving approximately 1″ [2.5 cm], place packet in tree, fill remaining space with stuffing.
With Right Side facing, place base on bottom of tree, aligning stitches.
Using live loop of base, stitch base to tree with slip stitch in bloof next sc of base and blo of coordinating sc of tree.
Slst in blo of next single crochets of each piece, continue around until 2” [5 cm] remain, add more stuffing if needed, complete slip stitches to end, fasten off. Weave in ends. •
