square 7, edgemerc sampler afghan

Hiya! Welcome to the Edgemerc Crochet Afghan Square 7 Pattern release! If this is your first time to the site and you’re not quite sure what I’m talking about, let me explain– We are in progress of a year-long Crochet-A-Long. We are making 4 each of 12 different designs, ultimately ending with 48 squares. Finally, in December, we will join them together to make a slightly oversized throw; 60″ x 80″ [152.5 x 203 cm]. Certainly if you want to join as you go, you are welcome to do that. For a calendar of the release schedule and links to other active squares, click HERE.

afghan sizing

Do you have to make the afghan the full 60″ x 80″ [152.5 x 203 cm] ?
Because the afghan is made of individual squares, you can certainly make it larger or smaller! Use the graphic below to guide you on the number of sampler squares you’ll need to reach the size blanket you want to create. By all means, add it to your pinterest board of helpful yarny information. 😄

I have 2 groups that I’d like for you to join ☻

Firstly, there is a private group for those of us making the Edgemerc afghan. This is specifically where you’ll need to ask any questions you may have about the sampler squares. It’s also going to be a place to share progress pictures, get opinions on color options & placement and ooooh and ahhhh over everyone’s project!

Also is an invite to join the Revel group ! It’s the best way to reach me regarding any of my patterns. It’s also a place to share project pictures, ask questions, share your favorite yarn memes, and in general chit-chat with the rest of us.

the yarn i'm using for my edgemerc

Fiber Content – 33% Alpaca 34% Wool 33% Acrylic
Amount – 219 yd [200 m]; 3.54 oz [100 g]
Weight – #4 Medium│Worsted

“When our mills spin our yarns, a small amount is left over from each batch. Instead of wasting it, we work with our mills to create new limited-edition yarns, and this year’s Upcycle Alpaca Worsted, a worsted weight blend of alpaca, wool, and acrylic, lends itself to sweaters, cowls, hats, and much more. It’s soft enough for next to skin wear, but rugged enough to keep you warm all winter long.

Upcycle is made with recycled fibers that vary in size, causing slight variations in yarn thickness from skein to skein. We recommend swatching before starting a project.”
