facebook forum(s)

Are you on facebook?
Today I have 2 groups to invite you to.

I’ve created a private group for those of us making the Edgemerc. I hope for it to be an easy way to quickly get answers to any questions you may have about the squares. It’s also going to be a place to share progress pictures, get opinions on color options and ooooh and ahhhh over everyone’s project!

I would also like to invite you to join the Revel group ! It’s the best way to reach me about questions regarding any of my patterns. It’s also a place to share project pictures, ask questions, share your favorite yarn memes, and chit-chat with the rest of us.

edgemerc details

These squares were designed using WeCrochet’s Upcycle Alpaca Blend yarn (#4 Medium│Worsted).

The square patterns are written for 1 size, 10″ [25.5 cm]. You will need to make 4 of each square pattern in order to have the full count of 48 squares by the end of the CAL.

Each square will be a solid fabric.
No lace.
No holes (within reason, this is still crochet 🙃).
My intention for this blanket is to bring you joy, provide crochet for your skillful hands, introduce you to new stitches, and to keep you (or a loved one) warm.

about the yarn

Fiber Content – 33% Alpaca 34% Wool 33% Acrylic
Amount – 219 yd [200 m]; 3.54 oz [100 g]
Weight – #4 Medium│Worsted

“When our mills spin our yarns, a small amount is left over from each batch. Instead of wasting it, we work with our mills to create new limited-edition yarns, and this year’s Upcycle Alpaca Worsted, a worsted weight blend of alpaca, wool, and acrylic, lends itself to sweaters, cowls, hats, and much more. It’s soft enough for next to skin wear, but rugged enough to keep you warm all winter long.

Upcycle is made with recycled fibers that vary in size, causing slight variations in yarn thickness from skein to skein. We recommend swatching before starting a project.”

This blanket is the first time I’ve used the Upcycle. And let me just tell you– I absolutely love this yarn. I’ve already ordered more and plan to make a sweater or cardigan. It has the most amazing hand to it. The texture in the ply is very pleasing to touch. The website write up is true, it is indeed next to skin soft, but the tight twist and the heathery colors along with the alpaca halo– it has a very rustic quality to it.

Oh my, ya’ll. Can we just talk about the color palette?!?
All of the colors are muted, but that is far from meaning dull. There is an overall earthy feel to the colors while also having multiple jewel tones. So nice. Below are the 12 colors I will be using. If these colors aren’t your favorite, keep reading ↓

Top down, Left to right– Obsidian, Parchment, Fawn, Biscotti, Graphite, Garnet, Thyme, Topaz, Pistachio, Night Sky, Linen, Sage

sample layout

This is the color layout I will be using for my personal (the sample) Edgemerc blanket.
Square 1, the lightest color, is the bottom left.
Square 2, the darkest color, will be above each Sq1.
Square 3 is the next darkest to the right of Sq1 and Square 4 the next lightest above Sq3…. and so on, building this fun, checkered, fade-esque, kinda sorta ombre.

HOOOOOOKS

Did you see my new hook in the pictures? This is part of the new set, “Dots” newly released by WeCrochet. I have said many times that I prefer a very specific style hook. The Dots check all the boxes for me. I’m very happy with them.
