The Star Wars Geek Crochet Top – Ahsoka

Ashoka Free Crochet top pattern

What this reminds me of

Are you ready for the next Free crochet summer sweater pattern?

I hope so because I’ve been workin’ my little tushy off on getting this thing together.

You ever get a yarn and think, “this reminds me of something…”

Typically, I’m all about texture and drape when choosing yarns for a project, but this blue. Ya’ll. Man oh man, this blue.

Of course you can (and should!) make this layering sweater in any color you want.
But if you are a Star Wars fan, you see what I mean about this blue, right?
And the shaping of the design within the lace… its just too much.

It all comes together to be a (maybe not so) subtle nod to Ahsoka of the Clone Wars.

Free crochet tee pattern, ashoka

If you’re not a fan of the Clone Wars, you probably see this lace as what it was meant to be, a budding flower. Either way, simply gorgeous and much easier to create than it seems.

About the yarn

Anzula Luxury Yarn, Ava in cornflower

Ooooh, my love for Anzula runs deep. When the opportunity shows up and the budget says yes to purchasing fancy yarn for a project, Anzula is 99% of the time the first place I look.

The colors are absolutely beautiful. I have several shawls in Anzula that have been washed multiple times and have never had problems with the colors fading or bleeding.

There are many yarn bases to choose from, too. From delicate lace to the big and chunky.

Anzula is a small Indie yarn dyer out of California, doing it all by hand.

If you decide to shop with them, tell ’em I sent ya! 😘

Getting started

Ya’ll know how I feel about making gauge swatches.
Make them.

While you’re here, grab this helpful worksheet on making a gauge swatch, for your next project. Save this worksheet to your digital notebook or print a few of these off if you’re a paper planner person.

This will make the swatch process easier and more enjoyable. I created this FREE worksheet as an easy way to figure out gauge, it’s especially helpful if you’re new and still learning all the ways to be successful with your crochet. This worksheet organizes your stitching information and the fill-in-the-blanks makes the math stress free.

NOTES

GENERAL

  • Top is worked in 3 pieces, Upper Front / Back are stitched individually from bottom up then seamed at shoulders and underarms, the Lower Body is then worked perpendicular to the Upper portion, attaching as the rows are created.
  • Take time to save time. Stitch, wash, and block a gauge swatch in the same manner you will be using for your garment to ensure proper measurements. This lace fabric will need “help” opening up. It is recommended to thoroughly soak/wash, then lay flat to dry, using rust-proof pins to shape the pieces to measurements.
  • Choose sizing from largest of bust or full hip measurement.
  • Read through each line before beginning to avoid any confusion during stitching.
  • Remember, if needed, stitch diagram(s), schematic, and customization instruction are available through my Etsy store and at LoveCrochet.
